FAQ

Is SimpleNews free? Yes. SimpleNews is free with no ads or in-app purchases.

Do I need to create an account? No. SimpleNews works immediately with no sign-up, login, or account required.

How does the personalized feed work? When you like or dislike articles, the app builds a local interest profile on your device. This is used to rank articles in your feed. Your interest profile is never sent to any server.

What about the AI summary feature? AI summaries are generated using Apple’s on-device Foundation Models. All processing happens locally on your device — no data is sent to any cloud AI service. This feature requires iOS 26+ on a device with Apple Intelligence enabled.

Does SimpleNews track me? No. There are no analytics SDKs, advertising frameworks, or tracking pixels in the app. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

How do paywall subscriptions work? SimpleNews lets you log into news sites you already pay for (like WSJ or NYT) using an in-app browser. Your login sessions are stored locally on your device. SimpleNews does not sell subscriptions or handle any payment information.

How do I reset my personalized feed? Go to Settings and turn off “Sort by Interests”. Your interest profile is stored locally and is removed when you uninstall the app.

How do I delete my data? Uninstalling SimpleNews removes all locally stored data, including your settings, saved articles, read history, and interest profile. If you’d like backend data (feed preferences) deleted as well, contact us at the email below.

Which devices are supported? SimpleNews runs on iPhone and includes an Apple Watch companion app and home screen widgets.
